BEAR RIDGE, SPOON RIVER HOST SATURDAY SPEED2s; EASTERN “SPECIAL EVENT” AT SEEKONK WEDNESDAY
USAC Speed2 Midget racing unfolds in Vermont, Massachusetts and Illinois this Saturday, with races at Bear Ridge Speedway (DMA) in Bradford, Vt. and Spoon River Speedway (IMRA) in Canton, Ill. and a “special” Eastern event at Seekonk, Mass. Wednesday.
Jason Goff (DMA) and Andy Baugh (IMRA) lead their respective standings entering this weekend’s races, while Jessica Bean is atop the Eastern points, although points will not be awarded at Seekonk ‘s “Open Wheel Wednesday.”
Goff. of Preston Hollow, N.Y., extended his lead in the USAC DMA Speed2 Midget standings with his victory in Friday night’s 25-lap feature at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y. Seth Carlson took second ahead of Justin Phillips, Adam Whitney and Joe Krawiec. The race featured four different lap leaders. Manny Dias, Jeff Champagne and Seth Carlson all led before Goff took over on lap 21.
Rain and wet grounds forced cancellation of Saturday’s Midwest Thunder race at Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway. The series resumes July 6 in the “Bill Gardner Sprintacular” at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind.
