SPEED2 WESTERN DIRT OPENER RAINED OUT AT OCEAN

Watsonville, California (March 28, 2019)………What was supposed to be the first of seven dates at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville for the USAC Western U.S. Speed2 Midget season this Friday night, has been cancelled due to saturated grounds following rainfall.

It was to be the first series race this season on the dirt following Joey Iest’s victory on the asphalt of Madera (Calif.) Speedway a week ago.  There, the Madera native scored a hometown victory in the opening race of.  He passed Elvis Rankin on lap 3 and led the rest of the way for the victory. Derek Loweree, Joseph Holiday and Johnny Nichols rounded out the “top-five.”

Iest leads the standings entering this weekend’s event, followed by Rankin, Loweree, Holiday and Nichols.  Tyler Slay is the reigning Speed2 Western U.S. Dirt Midget champ.

The series resumes on the dirt on Saturday, April 13, at California’s Ventura Raceway.
