SPEED2 MIDGETS ON TAP AT SPOON RIVER AND MADERA

Speedway, Indiana (May 1, 2019)………USAC Speed2 Midget action resumes this Saturday on the dirt and the pavement in the Midwest and on the west coast.

The Engler IMRA Midgets return to the Spoon River Speedway dirt oval in Canton, Ill. for the second time this season.  Andy Baugh of Mason City, Ill. won the opener in April and leads the standings coming into this Saturday’s event.  Dirtcar Modifieds, E-Mods, Dirtcar Pro Late Models and Dirtcar Hornets are also on the card.  Bicycle races for kids 12 and under will take place during intermission. 

Spoon River’s pits open at 4pm Central with grandstands opening at 5pm.  Draw will close at 5:30pm with cars hitting the track at 6pm and racing at 7pm.  Adult general admission tickets are $10 with admission for kids age 4 thru 10 are $3.  All pit passes are $30.

For the second time in 2019, the Western U.S. Midgets are back at California’s Madera Speedway.  Madera’s own Joey Iest was victorious on the paved oval in the March opener and he leads the series standings coming into Saturday’s race.

Pit gates open at noon with practice set to begin at 1:30pm Pacific with qualifying slated for 3:30pm.  The drivers meeting is scheduled for 4:35pm with racing on tap beginning at 5pm and opening ceremonies/main events commencing at 6pm.  SWT Trucks, POWRi/BCRA Midgets, Legends, Challenge Cup and Hard Tops are also on hand.  Adult tickets are $15, seniors and military are $13, youth ages 6-12 are $7 and kids five and under are free.  A Friday practice on May 3 will take place from 5-8pm at Madera with pits open at 3pm.
