6 SPEED2 MIDGET RACES HIT 5 STATES THIS WEEKEND

6 SPEED2 MIDGET RACES HIT 5 STATES THIS WEEKEND

Speedway, Indiana (August 14, 2019)………Six USAC Speed2 Midget events in five different states take place around the country this weekend in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and New York.

Two are in action this Friday, August 16, leading off with the Midwest Thunder Midget series’ fourth visit of the season to Gas City I-69 Speedway in Gas City, Indiana.  Series point leader Aaron Leffel (Springfield, Ohio) won the first trip to Gas City in May while Chett Gehrke (Broken Arrow, Okla.) has captured the previous two.  It's a doubleheader weekend for the series featuring bonuses both nights.  The series is back again at their home base of Montpelier Motor Speedway in Montpelier, Ind. on Saturday, Aug. 17.  Briggs, Alex Watson (Columbus, Ohio) and, most recently, Leffel have won appearances at Montpelier this year.

Moving to the east on Friday, DMA Midgets a return to Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, New York for their second and final race of the year there.  Point leader Will Hull (Plainfield, Vt.) won there in June, one of his series-leading five DMA victories this season.

Onto to Saturday, August 17, where the Engler IMRA Midgets hit Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. for the eighth occasion in 2019.  Andy Baugh (Mason City, Ill.), who leads the standings, has won there four times, while Korey Weyant (Springfield, Ill.), Patrick Bruns (Champaign, Ill.) and Adam Taylor (Dwight, Ill.) have each scored one apiece at The Spoon.

A doubleheader weekend for the Eastern Midgets begins on Saturday at Highland Rim Speedway in Greenbrier, Tennessee.  Nolan Allison (Greensboro, N.C.) and Sam Hatfield (Mooresville, N.C.) were victorious in each of the past two races at Highland Rim in 2017.

Eastern Midget racing continues north of the Tennessee border into the Commonwealth of Kentucky on Sunday, August 18, at Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville.  George Kurtz and Allison captured each end of a double-feature night in 2017.  Jessica Bean (Farmland, Ind.) leads the Eastern series standings.

Friday at Gas City, Sprint Cars, Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hornets join the Midwest Thunder Midgets.  Pits open at 3pm Eastern, front gates at 4:30pm and cars on track at 6:30pm.  Adult general admission tickets are $15 and kids 12 and under are free.  Pit passes are $30 apiece.

Friday at Albany-Saratoga, pits open at 4pm Eastern, grandstands at 5pm and racing at 7pm.  Limited Sportsman and weekly divisions are on the card with the DMA Midgets.  Adult general admission tickets are $11 and 11 and under are $2.  Pit passes are $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

Saturday at Montpelier, Midwest Thunder Midgets will be joined by UMP Modifieds, Super Streets, Thunder Cars and FWD Compacts.  Gates open at 3pm Eastern, hot laps at 5pm and racing at 6:30pm.  Adult general admission tickets are $15 and kids 12 and under are free with a paid adult.

Saturday at Spoon River, pits open at 4pm Central, grandstands at 5pm, end of draw at 5:30pm, hot laps at 7pm and racing at 7:30pm.  On hand will be the Perkins Seed House DirtCar Modifieds, DirtCar Pro Late Models, Farmington Locker E-Mods and Bartonville Express Lube DirtCar Hornets alongside the IMRA Midgets.  Adult general admission tickets are $10 and kids 4-10 are $3.  Driver pit passes are free for those who arrive before 5:30pm.  Crew pit passes are $30 and kids 10 and under pit passes are $20 apiece.

Saturday at Highland Rim, racing starts at 6pm Central.  Pro Late Models, Legends, Pure Stocks, Road Warriors, Pest Doctor Ridge Runners and Eastern Midgets will pack the pits.  Adult general admission is $12, 62+ Seniors are $10, those with Military ID are $10, students age 13-17 are $10, kids age 6-12 are $5 while children age 5 and under are free with a paid adult.  Tickets are $30 for two Adults and up to 6 minor children (less than $4.00 per person).  Pit passes are $35 apiece.

Sunday at Kentucky Motor Speedway, the pits open at 1pm Central and racing begins at 5pm.  Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, Scrappers and Sportsman are on the docket.
