SHERIDAN EYES SANTA MARIA RETURN MAY 8 AFTER 30-LAP WIN

The USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series returns to Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway May 8 and hometown driver Danny Sheridan can’t wait.

Sheridan led the final 15 laps of Saturday night’s USAC West Coast 360 Sprint feature in his hometown to win the 30-lapper in his Pace Lighting/P.I.P.E. Stinger/Chevy. He passed Peter Murphy on lap 16 and led the rest of the way to beat T.J. Smith, Murphy, Justyne Hamblin and Richard VanderWeerd. Davey Pombo was the fastest qualifier.

Series point leader Craig Stidham finished sixth and has a 59-point lead over Pombo in the new standings.
