MIDWEST THUNDER SPECIAL ON TAP FOR FEB. 26-27 MIDWEST WINTER NATIONALS IN Du QUOIN

Du Quoin, Illinois (February 24, 2021)………The USAC racing season resumes this weekend, Feb. 26-27, with a pair of USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget non-point, special events indoors at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin for the Midwest Winter Nationals.

No spectators are allowed into the event.  However, pit passes will be sold the days of the event.  Both days of the event will be aired live on FloRacing.  Friday’s hot laps will begin at 2pm CT with racing to immediately follow.  Saturday’s times are pushed up an hour with hot laps starting at 1pm CT and going directly into the racing events.  Everyone must be out of the building 30 minutes after the race.  Masks must be worn at all times, no exceptions.

Pit passes go on sale Friday morning at 9am.  Friday pit passes are $30, and $20 for kids 10 and under.  Saturday pit passes are $35, and $20 for kids 10 and under.  Two-day pit passes are $60.  Registration and more info can be found at www.midwestwinternationals.com.

The Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget features will pay $300 to win on Friday, $500 to win on Saturday and $50 to start.  Aaron Leffel (Springfield, Ohio) swept to feature victories both nights of racing in 2020.

Lightning sprints will be competing with the Lightning Sprints.  Micro Sprint classes competing during the event include Winged Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, A-Class (Winged), Restrictor and Junior Sprints.

Indoor pit stalls are not available.  If you didn’t pre-register for the event, you can register the day of the event for $100.  Fuel and tires will be sold at the track.  Pit spots are first come, first serve.  No fuel is allowed inside the building.  You must go outside to fuel your car.  Cars can only be pushed by hand in the pits.  No driving them, no pit bikes, 4 wheelers, etc.

There will be an engine warm up time in the morning.  Other than that, engines can't be fired in the building.  Racecievers are 100% mandatory, using channel 454.  Approved suit, shoes, gloves, helmets and in-date seat belts are mandatory.  For A Class and Restrictors, only the Hoosier ASCS2 tire is allowed.
