PENNINGTON, MATHEWS & RAIN SCORE IN FOCUS FEATURES

FOCUSES AT CONCORD WEDNESDAY, GRUNDY COUNTY SATURDAY
USAC's Carolina and UMARA Ford Focus series continues this week with events at Concord (NC) Motorsports Park) and Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill.
Bradley Riethmeyer leads the Carolina Series standings to Concord, while Branden Allen is atop the UMARA points going into Saturday's race at Morris.
Steven Mathews of New Liskeard, Ont., Canada and Jordan Pennington of Mishawaka, Ind. scored Ford Focus wins last week, while rain halted the Carolina series action scheduled at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park.
Mathews won Wednesday's 30-lap Midwest/Indiana Ford Focus feature at Anderson, leading the final six laps after passing series point leader Kyle Hamilton on lap 25. Craig Haack took second ahead of Hamilton, Julia Landauer and Chett Gehrke. Jordan Pennington led the first three laps before yielding to Hamilton.
Pennington passed Branden Allen on lap seven and led the final 19 laps to win Saturday's Midwest/UMARA race at Grundy County Speedway in his Pennington Racing Bullet. Hamilton was second ahead of Gehrke, Allen and Nick Grommes.
