WESTERN/UTAH FOCUSES AT LVMS; MIDWEST-EASTERN AT LANIER;

MULHEARN, JACOBSEN TOP VENTURA FOCUS, YOUNG GUNS FEATURES


Eli Schrock of Jeffersonton, Va. Sits atop the USAC Western and Utah Ford Focus standings going into this Saturday’s race at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring.


 


The USAC Midwest and Eastern Ford Focus series combine for this Saturday’s event at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga., marking the first appearance of the USAC Ford Focus machines in the Peach State.


 


Andrew Mulhearn and Alex Jacobsen earned USAC Ford Focus and Young Guns feature victories Saturday night at the Ventura Raceway.


 


Mulhearn, of Whittier, Calif., led all 20 laps to take the Western Ford Focus feature over Nick Carlson, Kyle Edwards, Wally Pankratz and Andrew Murray. In the 20-lap Young Guns main, Jacobsen, of San Jose, Calif., led all 20 laps to beat Daniel Williams, Casey Martinez, Jarid Blondel and Collin Henry.


 


The USAC Young Guns resume action on April 17 at the Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway.


 


Cody Gerhardt of Madera, Calif., currently third in the Western Pavement Ford Focus points, won the last USAC Ford Focus race at Las Vegas, last August.


 


Joe Liguori of Tampa, Fla. (Midwest) and Jeremy Frankoski of Huntersville, N.C. (Carolina) are the defending series champions entering Saturday’s race at the 3/8-mile paved Lanier oval.
