7 IGNITE RACES IN CALIFORNIA, NORTH CAROLINA & WASHINGTON

ELLIOTT TRIUMPHS AT BAKERSFIELD

Ignition is the keyword this week as USAC’s Ignite Midgets take center stage with seven races at six tracks in California, North Carolina and Washington.

The Eastern series has races scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park, plus a Friday night race at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. and a Saturday event at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Western Ignite Midgets compete Friday and Saturday at Watsonville, Calif.’s Ocean Speedway and at Antioch (Calif.,) Speedway respectively. The Northwest Ignite Midgets are at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash, Saturday night.

Cory Elliott of Bakersfield, Calif. scored a “hometown” win Saturday night in the Western Ignite Midget race at Bakersfield Speedway. He passed Michael Steele on lap nine and led the final 12 laps to win the 20-lapper over Steele, Parker Colston, Jet Davison and Austin Blair. Elliott also led the first four laps before Steele led the next four.

David emerged from the race with a tenuous one-point series lead over Colston entering this week’s races.
