FOCUS, YOUNG GUNS TITLES ON THE LINE SATURDAY

IN VENTURA’S “ARP FALL CLASSIC”

 


Year-end USAC Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns championships will be up for grabs Saturday in Ventura (Calif.) Raceway’s “ARP Fall Classic.” The event also feature the USAC Mopar National and Western Midgets.


 


Nick Carlson leads Cody Gerhardt by just 21 points for the Western Ford Focus title with races remaining at Ventura and Irwindale, Calif. Nov. 25.


 


Jarid Blondel and three others are in a tight battle for the Western Focus Young Guns title, which will be decided Saturday. Brandon White is just four points behind, while Casey Martinez trails by 10 and Alex Jacobsen is 30 back.


 


In the Focus Young Guns Dirt standings, Martinez is 12 ahead of Blondel, with Jacobsen 21 out of the lead entering Saturday’s finale.


 


So far this year Carlson has won three Focus races at Ventura, while Andrew Mulhearn also owns a Ventura win. In the Focus Young Guns, Blondel, Martinez and Jacobsen have all won this year at Ventura, while Tanner Kershaw also has a 2010 victory at the Ventura oval.
