VENTURA NEXT FOR WESTERN FOCUSES ON SATURDAY

RANKINE, KOSTECKI EARN VICTORIES AT LAKE HAVASU

USAC’s 2011 Western Ford Focus and Focus Young Guns series resume Saturday night at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. Jessica Clark (Ford Focus) and Brodie Kostecki (Focus Young Guns) are the respective point leaders after Saturday’s events at Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Ross Rankine of Willard, Ohio led the final nine laps to win Saturday night’s USAC Western/Utah Ford Focus feature at Lake Havasu in his Western Speed entry. Teammate Cody Gerhardt finished second ahead of Jarid Blondel, Brandon White and Clark. Clark, of Westlake Village, Calif., emerged with a one-point lead over Jake Swanson in the new Ford Focus standings. Swanson, who won the opener at Blythe, Calif. March 5, finished sixth at Lake Havasu.

In Saturday’s accompanying 15-lap Western Focus Young Guns feature at Lake Havasu, Brodie Kostecki of Roseville, Calif. led all the way to beat Trevor Hunt, Brandon White and Ricky Bowers to the checkered flag. Rankine was the fastest Ford Focus qualifier and Hunt paced Focus Young Guns qualifying. Kostecki has a three-point lead over White entering the Ventura race.
