IMRA BACK TO SPOON RIVER, MTM VISITS MONTPELIER; DAVIS WINS SUMMER SIZZLE, SPOON RIVER TO BRUNS; DOUBLE DMA RAINOUT
The USAC IMRA Midgets return to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. this Saturday night, while the USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets return to Montpelier (Ind.) Motor Speedway Saturday.
Jeff Mallonee (IMRA) and Gage Etgen (MTM) lead their respective series into this Saturday’s races.
Mitchell Davis of Auburn, Ill. claimed the “Speed 2 Summer Sizzle Series” championship Saturday night at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill., after a race won by Patrick Bruns. Davis finished the four-race series with a 20-point margin over Jeff Mallonee.
Bruns, of Champaign, Ill., passed Ryan Probst on lap 27 and led the final four laps of the 30-lap feature to beat Probst, Chase McDermand, Austin Archdale and Andy Baugh.
Rain forced cancellation of two USAC DMA Midget races this past weekend, at Legion Speedway in Rumney, N.H. and Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt. The series resumes August 26 and 27 at Legion and Bear Ridge as series point leader Adam Pierson will try to extend his seven-race winning streak.
