Terre Haute, Indiana (March 23, 2023)………The legendary Terre Haute Action Track will host a trio of USAC National events during the 2023 season featuring the Silver Crown National Championship and the AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship.

Opening night for the only half-mile dirt oval located in the state of Indiana will take place on Sunday, April 16, with the 20th running of the Sumar Classic, which will serve as the opening race of the USAC Silver Crown season.

Additionally, two USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship dates are on the 2023 slate, kicking off with the 53rd annual running of the Tony Hulman Classic on Tuesday night, May 23.

The second visit by the USAC Sprints to Terre Haute this season will take place on Wednesday night, July 26, which marks round five of the 36th annual Indiana Sprint Week on Wednesday night, July 26.

Veteran racer Bill Rose has been named as the promoter of the Terre Haute Action Track in 2023.  Rose has twice won in USAC National Sprint Car competition over the years and ranks 23rd all-time with 273 career series starts as well as 60 appearances with the USAC Silver Crown series, many of which have come at the Terre Haute Action Track, a place he holds near and dear to his heart.

“This place is so special,” Rose said of the Terre Haute Action Track, which began competition 70 years ago in 1953.  “That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to do this.  Two of my all-time favorite racetracks are Manzanita Speedway and the Terre Haute Action Track.  One of them is gone now, so, we’ve got to keep Terre Haute going strong.”

The Terre Haute Action Track has hosted a grand total of 251 USAC National events dating back to the series’ inaugural season in 1956.  Earl Motter won the first USAC feature held at Terre Haute, a midget race in 1956.  Robert Ballou scored the win in USAC’s most recent event at Terre Haute, a sprint car show in May of 2022.
