JONES-COONS BATTLE SWITCHES TO "WINCHESTER OLDTIMERS" SUNDAY

JONES-COONS BATTLE SWITCHES TO "WINCHESTER OLDTIMERS" SUNDAY; SWEET WIRE-TO-WIRE IN ELDORA'S "4-CROWN" SPRINT

Sunday's "Winchester Oldtimers Weekend" at the Winchester (Ind.) Speedway will feature an old-fashioned shoot-out between Levi Jones and Jerry Coons Jr. for the lead in the 2008 USAC National Sprint Car Series. Jones, the defending two-time champ, holds only a nine-point lead entering Sunday's event, which offers 74 total points.

Coons and Jones finished third and sixth respectively in Saturday night's 30-lap "4-Crown Nationals" feature at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Brad Sweet of Grass Valley, Calif. led all 30 laps to win the "4-Crown Nationals" race. Sweet and his Mopar/Team ASE JEI/Speedway Mopar were trailed at the finish by Mike Brecht, Coons, Dickie Gaines and Jesse Hockett.

Neither Jones nor Coons have ever won at Winchester but Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif. has. Hagen is on a two-race Winchester streak, winning there in April and June. Hagen is seventh in the current series standings.
